Reductil
Reductil (sibutramine hydrochloride) is a prescription neurotransmitter reuptake inhibitor that maintains the natural levels of certain chemicals in the brain, therefore reducing your appetite. As a result of taking Reductil regularly you do not experience food craving after eating less food than usual, which, in combination with diet and exercise, contributes to stable weight loss. You must never take Reductil if you have recently taken a MAO inhibitor, as a dangerous drug interaction is possible that in some cases can even lead to death. MAO inhibitors are usually prescribed for the treatment of depression and other related conditions, so you need to be very careful and wait for at least 14 days after the last dose of your MAO inhibitor. Other drugs you may be taking are not expected to produce such serious health consequences – but can add to the drowsiness Reductil can cause. The following medications can be combined with Reductil only if recommended so by your doctor: muscle relaxants, sedatives, narcotic pain medicine, medicine for seizures, cold or allergy medicine, and sleeping pills. An overdose of Reductil can cause headache, dizziness, and fast heart rate, and these symptoms must be reported to your local emergency center as soon as possible. Talking to your doctor about any health conditions you have or used to have is also very important, as this way you will make sure no disease with affect the success of your treatment and vice versa. The following ones should be mentioned to your doctor in case you ever had them or have at the moment: high blood pressure, seizures, a history of a stroke, glaucoma, liver or kidney disease, a history of heart attack, a bleeding disorder, depression, or heart disease. If there are other things you have been diagnosed with – you can report them as well to see if they can affect your progress in any way. Taking drugs is always associated with some side effects. Some side effects can be mild, while others can get pretty serious, although they are quite rare and displayed by only a small percentage of patients. However, it’s important for you to know for sure which side effects are serious and which ones can be ignored because they occur as a result of your body adjusting to the dosage prescribed. Mild side effects are quite common when you first start taking Reductil and can include: constipation, increased sweating, insomnia, increased blood pressure, dry mouth, increased heart rate, and headache. These symptoms go away after just several hours in most cases, otherwise its best to call your doctor about them. More serious side effects are unlikely but still possible. Make sure you are aware of the possibility to develop any of the following serious side effects: depression, nausea, shortness of breath, muscle rigidity, vomiting, irregular heartbeats, loss of muscle coordination, lightheadedness, restlessness, mental confusion, abdominal pain, high fever, anxiety, or sweating, as they can get more serious if you do nothing about them.
